
Team Canada has won the bronze medal in the women’s 3000 metre short track speed skating relay at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo on Wednesday. The Canadian team comprised of Danae Blais of Chateauguay, Quebec, Florence Brunelle of Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, Kim Boutin of Sherbrooke, Quebec, and Courtney Sarault of Moncton, New Brunswick.
Team Canada had a third place time of 4:04.314. South Korea won the gold medal with a time of 4:04.014. Italy won the silver medal with a time of 4:04.107. Canada reached the podium by 4.767 seconds. The Netherlands finished in fourth place with a time of 4:09.081.
This was the fourth medal for Sarault at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games. She previously won silver medals in the women’s 1000 metres and mixed 2000 metre relay, and bronze in the women’s 500 metres.
Meanwhile, Boutin has now won six medals at the Olympic Winter Games. Her first three medals were at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang. They were a silver medal in the women’s 1000 metres, a bronze medal in the women’s 500 metres and a bronze medal in the women’s 1500 metres. Boutin then won bronze in the women’s 500 metres at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing, and was part of the 2000 metre mixed relay team that won silver in Milan.
This was the second Olympic medal for Brunelle, as she was on the mixed 2000 metre relay team that won silver last week. For Blais, this was her first Olympic medal. Canada has now won 13 medals at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games. They have three gold medals, four silver medals and six bronze medals.
