
Team Canada has won its first two games of the 2025 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championships in Fredericton, New Brunswick. On Saturday from Willie O’Ree Place, the Canadian team of Jocelyn Peterman of Red Deer, Alberta and Brett Gallant of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island defeated the German pair of Pia-Lisa Scholl and Joshua Sutor 10-5 and the Denmark pair of Jasmin and Henrik Holtermann by a score of 6-4.
In Canada’s win over Germany, Canada had a narrow 6-5 lead in the seventh end when they scored four points. Then in the third draw of the day, Canada outscored Denmark 3-2 in the first four ends, and 3-2 again in the second half of the contest.
Canada is in a four-way tie for first place in Group A. The other three teams in first place are Italy’s Stefania Constantini and Amos Mosaner, Sweden’s Anna Hasselborg and Oskar Eriksson, and Scotland’s Jennifer Dodds and Bruce Mouat. Constantini and Mosaner won the gold medal for Italy in mixed doubles curling at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing, and will look to defend their Olympic title at home at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo. Canada’s opponent on Sunday is Sweden. They then face the Netherlands and Italy on Monday.
