
Team Canada has improved to a record of two wins and zero losses at the 2025 International Ice Hockey Federation World Men’s Hockey Championship in Stockholm, Sweden. On Sunday, Canada defeated Latvia by a score of 7-1.
Philadelphia Flyers right winger Travis Konecny of London, Ontario, and Canadian Olympic gold medalist and Pittsburgh Penguins center and captain Sidney Crosby of Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia led Canada in scoring with three points each. Konecny had two goals and one assist and Crosby had three assists. Crosby won a gold medal for Canada at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver and the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.
One other player on Team Canada had a multi-point game. That was Columbus Blue Jackets right winger Kent Johnson of Port Moody, British Columbia, who scored twice. The other three Canadian goal scorers were Colorado Avalanche centre Nathan MacKinnon, San Jose Sharks centre Macklin Celebrini of North Vancouver, British Columbia, and Utah Mammoth centre Barrett Hayton of Peterborough, Ontario.
Team Canada is currently tied for first place in Group A with Sweden with six points as they have two wins each. Finland also has two wins, but one of their wins came in overtime as they only received two points in their 4-3 win over France.
