
Team Canada is in the semifinals at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in women’s hockey. On Saturday, Team Canada beat Team Germany 5-1 in the quarterfinals.
The Canadians were led by Canadian Olympic gold medalist Sarah Fillier of Georgetown, Ontario, and Daryl Watts of Toronto, Ontario. Fillier had one goal and one assist for two points and Watts had two assists.
The other four Canadian goal scorers were Canadian Olympic gold medalists Marie-Philip Poulin of Beauceville, Quebec, Blayre Turnbull of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Brianne Jenner of Oakville, Ontario, and Claire Thompson of Toronto. Poulin won the gold medal for Canada at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, and the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing. Jenner won the gold medal at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, and the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing. Fillier, Turnbull, and Thompson won gold at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing.
It was a memorable goal for Poulin as she tied Canadian Olympic gold medalist Hayley Wickenheiser of Shaunavon, Saskatchewan for the most goals all-time in Olympic women’s hockey with 18. Wickenheiser won gold for Canada at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City, the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Turin, the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, and the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.
Canada will next play Switzerland in the semifinals on Monday (1pm MT). The United States will play Sweden in the other semifinal (8:40 am MT). In the other three quarterfinal games, the United States beat Italy 6-0, Sweden beat the Czech Republic 2-0 and Switzerland beat Finland 1-0.
