
Team Canada has improved to a record of four wins and zero losses at the 2025 International Ice Hockey Federation World Men’s Hockey Championships in Stockholm, Sweden. On Thursday, Canada defeated Austria by a score of 5-1.
Team Canada was led in scoring by Colorado Avalanche centre Nathan MacKinnon of Halifax, Nova Scotia and Seattle Kraken defenseman Brandon Montour of Ohsweken, Ontario. MacKinnon had two goals and one assist for three points, and Montour had three assists for three points.
Three more Canadians had multi-point games. New York Rangers left winger Will Cuylle of Toronto, Ontario had one goal and one assist for two points. Philadelphia Flyers right winger Travis Konecny of London, Ontario also had one goal and one assist for two points. Meanwhile, New York Islanders centre Bo Horvat of London had two assists for two points.
The other Canadian goal scorer was Canadian Olympic gold medalist Sidney Crosby of Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia. The Pittsburgh Penguins captain and centre won a gold medal for Canada at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver and the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.
Canada next plays Slovakia on Saturday. They then play Finland on Monday and Sweden on Tuesday. Sweden is also undefeated in Group A at four wins and zero losses.
