Team Canada has improved to a record of seven wins and one loss at the 2026 Women’s World Curling Championships at the Winsport Events Centre in Calgary, Alberta. On Wednesday, Canada trounced Turkey 9-3 and then beat Scotland 7-5 in a nail biter.

It was a terrific start for Team Canada’s Kerri Einarson in their game against Turkey. They scored three points with the hammer in the first end. After Turkey tied the game at three, Team Canada scored six unanswered points with three straight two enders from the fourth to the sixth ends, to win by six points.

In Canada’s win over Scotland, Team Canada overcame some adversity. Canadian third Val Sweeting remarkably flashed on two consecutive double takeout attempts in the fifth end. The chances of her doing it once was minimal, and it happened twice. However, Einarson was able to pick up one point in the end to take a 5-3 lead. The other key shot came in the ninth end, as Einarson was able to score one when Scotland skip Fay Henderson accidentally bumped her rock out of the four foot.

Einarson was very complimentary of the Scottish team.

“We knew Scotland was going to come out and play really well. Which you know, they did. They started stringing a lot of shots together. I thought they played very well.”

Canada is now in second place in the round robin standings. Switzerland leads at seven wins and one loss but gets first place because of their 6-5 win over Canada on Tuesday night.
