Team Canada has improved to a record of eight wins and two losses at the 2025 Women’s World Curling Championships in Uijeongbu, South Korea. After losing 11-7 to South Korea, the Canadians skipped by Rachel Homan of Ottawa, Ontario, beat Norway 8-6, Switzerland 7-6 and Japan 11-2.
In Canada’s win over Norway, the Canadians scored two points in the 10th end to come through with a two point win. The Canadians once had a 6-3 lead after seven ends before allowing Norway to tie it. The key shot came in the third end when Norwegian second Ingeborg Forbregd was unable to remove two Canadian stones in the house and allowed Homan to score three.
In Canada’s win over Switzerland, the Swiss missed some glorious opportunities. They had a chance for four points in the eighth end and only scored once, and had a chance to win the game in the 10th end, but Swiss vice-skip Alina Paetz bumped one of her own stones slightly far enough to only score a single point. Homan then won the game with a draw to the button.
Canada beat Japan thanks to a flash by Japanese skip Sayaka Yoshimura in the fifth end and a key five ender in the eighth end. With the three game winning streak, Canada is now in second place and only behind first place Switzerland at 9-1.
