Canada beats South Korea at 2025 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship

Team Canada has improved to a record of five wins and one loss at the 2025 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship in Frrdericton, New Brunswick. At Willie O’Ree Place on Tuesday, the Canadian team comprised of Jocelyn Peterman of Red Deer, Alberta and Brett Gallant of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island defeated South Korea by a score of 11-6.

The win over South Korea came a day after Canada had split results on Monday. In Draw 7, Canada defeated the Netherlands 7-3, and then in Draw 9, Canada lost to Italy 7-5. The Italian duo is comprised of Olympic gold medalists Stefania Constantini and Amos Mosaner, who placed first at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing.

In Canada’s win over the Netherlands, Peterman and Gallant dominated the second half of the game. After the Netherlands duo of Lisenka Bomas and Wouter Gosgens tied the game at three after four ends, Peterman and Gallant recorded a point in the fifth end to take a 4-3 lead, stole a point in the sixth end, and then two more points in the seventh end.

In Canada’s win over South Korea, Peterman and Gallant had four ends with multiple points. They had two points in the first end, three points in the third end, two points in the fifth end, and four points in the seventh end.

Canada is currently tied for second place in Group A with Sweden. They are only behind the 6-0 Italians. In Group B, Australia, Norway and the United States are tied for first place at four wins and one loss.
