
Team Canada has improved to a record of three wins and zero losses at the 2025 International Ice Hockey Federation World Men’s Hockey Championships in Stockholm, Sweden. On Tuesday, Canada defeated France by a score of 5-0.
St. Louis Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington of Richmond Hill, Ontario saw his first action in the championships to date, and had the shutout. He made 15 saves overall. Binnington made six saves in the first period, four saves in the second period, and five saves in the third period.
Offensively, Canada was led by New York Islanders centre Bo Horvat of London, Ontario, and Seattle Kraken defenseman Brandon Montour of Ohsweken, Ontario. Horvat had two goals, and Montour had one goal and one assist. The other two Canadian goal scorers were Canadian Olympic gold medalist and Pittsburgh Penguins centre Sidney Crosby of Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia, and New York Rangers left winger Will Cuylle of Toronto, Ontario. Crosby won gold at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver and the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.
Team Canada is currently in a first place tie with Sweden in Group A. Canada will play Sweden on Tuesday. Canada’s next game is against Austria on Wednesday afternoon at 12:20 pm MT.
