Team Canadas has got off to a strong start in the Olympic mixed doubles curling competition at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo. The Canadian Olympic team of Brett Gallant of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island and Jocelyn Peterman of Red Deer, Alberta defeated the Czech Republic duo of Julie Zelingrova and Vitek Chabicovsky 10-5.
The most significant end was the second end when Canada stole four points. In fact, the first five points in the game was stolen by the Canadians. The international inexperience of Zelingrova and Chabicovsky showed. Zelingrova is only 19 years of age, while Chabicovsky is 21 years old. Chabicovsky seemed a little bit frazzled throughout.
Canada is one of six nations undefeated so far. They are joined by Great Britain (2-0), Sweden (2-0), the United States (1-0), Switzerland (1-0), and Italy (1-0). Great Britain is represented by Jennifer Dodds and Bruce Mouat, and coached by three-time Scotties representative Clancy Grandy of Burlington, Ontario. Sweden is represented by the brother and sister duo of Isabelle and Rasmus Wrana. It should be noted that Rasmus Wrana is the second for Niklas Edin.
On Thursday, Canada will play twice. They first play Norway, as the reigning Olympic silver medalists of Kristin Skaslien and Magnus Nedregotten, have been slow out of the gate at 0-2. Canada then plays the reigning Olympic gold medalists of Stefania Constantini and Amos Mosaner from Italy.
