Blue Jays sign starting pitcher Patrick Corbin

The Toronto Blue Jays attempted to increase their pitching depth on Friday with the signing of lefthanded pitcher Patrick Corbin. The Blue Jays were in need of a starting pitcher due to the injuries of Cody Ponce, Trey Yesavage, Shane Bieber and Jose Berrios. Corbin is expected to join a starting pitching rotation that includes Kevin Gausman, Dylan Cease, Eric Lauer and Max Scherzer.

Corbin’s contract is for one year and worth $1 million according to TSN. He is joining his fourth Major League Baseball team after six seasons with the Arizona Diamondbacks (2012 to 2018), six seasons with the Washington Nationals (2019 to 2024) and one season with the Texas Rangers (2025).

In 2025, Corbin had a record of seven wins and 11 losses with am earned run average of 4.40. In 155 1/3 innings pitched, he gave up 161 hits, 76 earned runs, 21 home runs and 51 walks, to go along with 131 strikeouts, six quality starts and a WHIP (walks and hits per innings pitched) of 1.37.

Corbin is a two-time MLB All-Star. He was honoured twice with the Diamondbacks. The first time came in 2013 and the second time in 2018. Corbin also won a World Series with the Nationals in 2019.

The Blue Jays are currently at four wins and three losses. They are in second place in the American League East and two games back of the first place New York Yankees.
