The Toronto Blue Jays are the hottest team in Major League Baseball at the moment, as they have won nine of 10 games, and have the longest current winning streak in the Majors of eight games. As a result, the Blue Jays are in first place in the American League East at 52 wins and 38 losses. They lead the second place New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays by three games each.

After sweeping the Yankees last week, the Blue Jays swept the Los Angeles Angels in a three game series that started on Friday and ended on Sunday. The scores in the three game set were all by one run. Toronto won 4-3 on Friday and Saturday, and 3-2 on Sunday.

In Toronto’s Friday win, Eric Lauer had a quality start as he only gave up two earned runs in six innings. Chad Green picked up his third win of the season. The Blue Jays won the game in the bottom of the 10th inning on a throwing error by Angels relief pitcher Sam Bachman, which scored Myles Straw from second base.

In Toronto’s Saturday win, the Blue Jays had a two-run home run from George Springer, and a game-winning RBI single from Addison Barger in the bottom of the 11th inning to break a 3-3 tie. Braydon Fisher pitched two shutout innings of relief for his third win of the season.

Then in Toronto’s Sunday win, the Blue Jays had a home run from Bo Bichette. Ryan Burr had his first win as a Toronto Blue Jay, Brendon Little had a hold, and Jeff Hoffman picked up the save.
