The Toronto Blue Jays are in first place in the American League East. A major reason why the Blue Jays are red hot lately is because they just swept the New York Yankees in a four game series at home for the first time in franchise history.

The Blue Jays began the week with a 5-4 win on Monday. That was followed by a 12-5 win on Tuesday, an 11-9 win on Wednesday, and an 8-5 Blue Jays win on Thursday.

On Monday, first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of Montreal, Quebec led the Blue Jays with three runs batted in. Brendon Little recorded the win. Braydon Fisher, Mason Fluharty, and Chad Green had holds, and Jeff Hoffman had the save.

On Canada Day, George Springer was the Blue Jays star as he had two home runs and seven runs batted in. Andres Gimenez also homered. On the mound, Fisher got the win.

On Wednesday, the Blue Jays had an 8-0 lead. The Yankees tied the game at nine, and the Blue Jays won by two runs. Left fielder Davis Schneider hit two home runs, and Addison Barger hit one home run and four runs batted in. Yimi Garcia had his first win of the season, and Hoffman had his 20th save.

On Thursday, the Blue Jays had two more home runs from Springer and one home run from Barger. In all, Barger had three extra base hits as he had two doubles. Chris Bassitt had the win for Toronto. Fisher, Green and Justin Briuhl had holds, and Hoffman had the save.

Toronto is at 49 wins and 38 losses. They lead the Yankees and Rays by a game each.
