
The Toronto Blue Jays added two pitchers to their bullpen on Friday according to Rogers Sportsnet. First, they made a trade with the Detroit Tigers. They picked up right-hander Chase Lee for prospect pitcher Jonah Simon. Then, the Blue Jays signed Tyler Rogers to a three-year deal worth $37 million.
Lee was a rookie for the Tigers last season. In 32 games, he had a record of four wins and one loss with an earned run average of 4.10. In 37 1/3 innings pitched, Lee gave up 32 hits, 17 earned runs, seven home runs, and nine walks, to go along with 36 strikeouts, four holds, and a WHIP (walks and hits per innings pitched) of 1.10.
Rogers is joining his third Major League Baseball franchise. He spent six complete seasons with the San Francisco Giants before sharing his time last year with the Giants and New York Mets.
In 2025 with the Giants and Mets, Rogers pitched in a Major League high 81 games. He had a record of four wins and six losses with an excellent earned run average of 1.98. During 77 1/3 innings pitched, Rogers gave up 66 hits, 17 earned runs, four home runs, and seven walks, to go along with 48 strikeouts, 32 holds, and a WHIP of 0.94.
Throughout his career, Rogerrs has been known as a workhorse. He has led the National League in games played among pitchers four times (29 in 2020, 80 in 2021, 77 in 2024, and 81 in 2025).
