Andrew Wiggins of Toronto, Ontario had a career high 16 rebounds on Friday as his Golden State Warriors defeated the Boston Celtics 107-97 in game four of the 2022 NBA Finals from Toronto Dominion Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. With the win, the Warriors tied the best out of seven National Basketball Association Finals with the Celtics at two games apiece.
Wiggins’s previous high was 11, a feat he has accomplished five times. Three of those times came in the regular season, and twice in the playoffs.
There is no doubt Wiggins has improved immensely as a defender. In his first three seasons in the NBA with the Minnesota Timberwolves, he had 177 turnovers in 2014-15, 182 turnovers in 2015-16, and a career-high 187 turnovers in 2016-17. However, over the last two seasons with the Warriors, Wiggins has seen his turnovers total drop to 126 turnovers in 2020-21, and 111 turnovers in 2021-22.
Wiggins has also seen a drop in personal fouls. In his rookie season, he committed 190 personal fouls, while this year he only committed 158.
On Friday, Wiggins also had a double-double, as he scored 17 points in 43 minutes. He was one of two Warriors players to record a double-double. Stephen Curry added 43 points and 10 rebounds in 40 minutes.
The series now shifts to San Francisco. Game five is Monday.
