
Andrew Longino of Calgary, Alberta won his second career World Cup halfpipe skiing medal on Saturday. He accomplished the feat with a bronze medal in a World Cup event in Copper Mountain, Colorado.
Longino had a score of 84 points. Alex Ferreira of the United States won the gold medal with a score of 91.5 points. Hunter Hess of the United States won the silver medal with a score of 89 points. Longino reached the podium by 2.75 points over Gus Kenworthy of Great Britain, who had 81.25 points.
In the World Cup standings, Longino is in sixth place with 76 points. He is behind Hess (140 points), Ferreira and Finley Melville Ives of New Zealand (100 points each), Birk Irving of the United States (86), and Luke Harrold of New Zealand (80 points).
Longino’s first World Cup medal came on September 9, 2024 in Cardrona, New Zealand. When Longino won his first World Cup medal, Brendan MacKay of Calgary also reached the podium as he won the gold medal. Longino had 87.75 points, which were 3.75 points more than in Colorado.
This was the second of five World Cup halfpipe skiing events this season. The other three are in Calgary, Alberta, Canada (January 3), Aspen, Colorado (January 10), and Silvaplana, Switzerland (March 29). The bronze medal in Colorado will give Longino confidence as he prepares for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo.
