Canadian Olympic bronze medalist Abigail Strate of Calgary, Alberta has won a silver medal in a World Cup women’s ski jumping event in Wisla, Poland on Thursday. This is Strate’s seventh World Cup ski jumping medal. She has won three silver medals and four bronze medals.

On Thursday, Strate posted a score of 240.9 points. Anna Odibe Stroem of Norway won the gold medal with a score of 246 points. Nozomi Maruyama of Japan won the bronze medal with a score of 236.9 points. Strate won a medal by five points. Heidi Dyhre Traaserud of Norway finished in fourth place with a score of 235.9 points.

In the World Cup standings, Strate is in fourth place with 276 points. Maruyama leads with 490 points. Mika Prevc is in second with 356 points. Anna Odine Stroem of Norway finished in third place with 308 points.

Strate will be the face of the Canadian Olympic ski jumping team at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo. That is because Strate’s teammate, Alexandria Loutitt of Calgary, tore her anterior cruciate ligament during a Summer Grand Prix event in Val di Femme, Italy. Loutitt won the gold medal in the women’s large hill ski jumping event at the 2023 World Championships in Planica, Slovenia. Loutitt, Strate, Matthew Soukup of Calgary, and Mackenzie Boyd-Clawes of Toronto, Ontario teamed up to win bronze in the mixed ski jumping event at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing.
