2026 Olympic Curling Preview

There is one word that best describes Team Canada heading into the 2026 Olympic Winter Games. That word is confidence. In the Zoom Conference leading up to the Games, Canadian men’s skip Brad Jacobs stated the following when asked about how he might feel about being the underdog.

“Do you think we are a team who cares who the favourite is? Where do I think we fit? Well, I’ll tell you, after the day I had today at the gym and at that practice, I feel like we fit right at or near the top, which is right where I would expect us.”

Canada has won three gold medals in men’s curling all-time. They won in 2006 in Torino, 2010 in Vancouver and in 2014 in Sochi. Two players on the Canadian team in 2010 (Marc Kennedy and Ben Hebert) won gold with Kevin Martin, while Brad Jacobs was the skip of the 2014 Olympic team. The focus for Team Jacobs is now. Jacobs knows this is his last shot for Olympic glory, and because of his desire and hunger, I am predicting Canada to get the job done on the men’s side.

There could be two gold medals for Jacobs’s lead Brett Gallant, who I interviewed prior to the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing. That is because Gallant is also entered into the mixed doubles competition, with their first game on Wednesday against the Czech Republic (11am MT).

Another Canadian curling team which is hungry is Ottawa’s Rachel Homan. Prior to the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang. Homan’s team failed to medal after dominating the 2017 World Women’s Curling Championship in Beijing. Homan also did not medal in mixed doubles at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing with partner John Morris. However, Homan had a dominant 2024 season on the grand slam circuit, and seems poised to win her first Olympic medal, and it might as well be gold.
