We now know the finalists of the 2025 Vanier Cup. We will see the University of Saskatchewan Huskies take on the University of Montreal Carabins. On Saturday, the Carabins first trounced St. Mary’s University 49-19 in the Uteck Bowl from Huskies Stadium in Halifax, Nova Scotia.  Then the Huskies defeated the Queen’s University Golden Gaels 22-11 in the Mitchell Bowl from Griffiths Stadium in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

The fact that the Carabins and Huskies are playing against each other for the Vanier Cup at Mosaic Stadium in Regina, Saskatchewan on Saturday is intriguing. That is because the Montreal Alouettes played the Saskatchewan Roughriders in Winnipeg, Manitoba for the Grey Cup on Sunday.

In the Uteck Bowl, Carabins fullback Mathieu Barsalou had four rushing touchdowns. His first two rushing touchdowns were for two yards, and his last two rushing touchdowns were for one yard. In the Huskies win, Saskatchewan running back Ryker Frank of Regina had 22 rushes for 131 rushing yards.

During the regular season, the University of Saskatchewan Huskies only lost once. That came on September 13 as they were beaten 21-20 by the University of Manitoba Bisons. The Carabins lost twice. They were first beaten 31-24 by McGill University on September 19, and then beaten 16-6 by Laval University on October 19.
